A New Church in the City

Location: Our worship service will likely be in a non-traditional space (warehouse, art gallery, theatre) in the downtown area of Chicago--somewhere easily accessed by mass transit. Small groups and service events will happen during the week in neighborhoods throughout the city.

Help us create a new, bold, inclusive, relevant church in the heart of the city. Beginning in summer 2009, two young pastors are gathering people to launch a new multi-denominational Chicago faith community in 2010.

• envision a movement of Christian/seeking people where absolutely everybody--young and old; black, brown, and white; gay and straight; woman and man; Democrat and Republican--has a real place at the table.
• are intrigued with Jesus but get frustrated sometimes with some of his followers.
• understand church not just as Sunday worship, but also as a not-boring journey that gives back to the world, builds authentic relationships with other people, and compels us all to reflect on what is important and real in the one life that we all have.
